A recent recruit to the Algeria cause, Medjani will be looking to make a positive first impression on the followers of his adopted country.
He was actually born in France and turned out for the land of his birth at youth level.
Medjani even captained Les Bleus at the 2006 Under-21 Toulon tournament, but was unable to make the step up into the senior fold.
Eventually he decided to put his Algerian roots to good use and made it clear that he would consider switching allegiance to the African nation.
Rabah Saadane has duly offered him that opportunity and he will be keen to make his mark this summer.
Liverpool supporters may recall that Medjani was once on the books at Anfield, although he never managed a senior outing.
He took in spells at Lorient and Metz before securing a switch to AC Ajaccio in 2008, and he is currently a first-team regular for the Ligue 2 outfit.
