Racing Santander midfielder Lacen has been included in Algeria's World Cup squad after only making his debut in March's friendly defeat to Serbia.
The Paris-born player began his senior career with Stade Laval in 2003 before taking in spells at Valence and Alaves and then joining Racing in 2008.
Lacen was included in the initial Algeria squad for the 2010 African Cup of Nations, but he did not play in the tournament because his wife was pregnant.
The 25-year-old can operate in a defensive midfield role, but also has very neat control, quick feet and an accurate pass from his left foot.
Lacen is also a threat from set-pieces and has a dangerous free-kick and shot from outside the penalty area.
