Halliche is a centre-half with plenty of promise, but he still has much to learn if he is to truly fulfil his potential.
He has become a regular for his country in recent times, but will have done himself few favours with a reckless red card in the semi-finals of the 2010 African Cup of Nations.
It is expected that misdemeanour will be forgiven by the time Algeria take to the field in South Africa, with Halliche having played a major role in helping them to qualify.
One of the heroes of the memorable play-off showdown with Egypt, he will fancy his chances of earning a starting berth.
The 23-year-old has turned out domestically for Nacional Madeira in each of the last two seasons, but is owned by Portuguese giants Benfica.
He is due back in Lisbon this summer and knows a solid showing at the World Cup could help him to force his way into the first-team picture at Estadio da Luz.
