Fledgling international Kim has made several outings for South Korea since making his debut in a friendly match against Zambia in January 2010.
He featured in South Korea's victories over Finland, Hong Kong, Japan and Ecuador this year, landing a yellow card in the East Asian Championship match against Japan but receiving praise for his display from the Korean media.
The 20-year-old midfielder's heavy presence on the international scene since his debut suggests he is being prepped to feature in South Korea's campaign in South Africa this summer.
Kim signed with Japanese J-League Division One side Cerezo Osaka in 2010 but was loaned out to Division Two side Oita Trinita before he could make an appearance for the club.
The youngster has since established himself as a regular at Oita, and a valuable goalscorer for the side.
