Diego Forlan/Zaira Nara

To think we can still remember the days when Diego Forlan looked like scoring less than Fred Elliott at a vegan convention. Now look at the boy. Fresh from single-handedly securing the Europa League for Atletico Madrid, the former Manchester United flop is bunked up with an Argentine super model. Forlan always seems like an affable chap so we'll avoid obvious and tired jokes about what attracted the stunning Zaira Nara to the big nosed, 80s rock hair revivalist, multi-millionaire footballer. We're much too classy for that. Few can doubt Zaira's WAG credentials, with bagging footballers clearly part of the Nara gene pool, as sister Wanda was once the squeeze of uber-hunk Diego Maradona. Sky Bet have informed us the odds of this glamour couple taking the crown are tumbling by the day, having already taken a sizeable wager on the pair from an unnamed Texan oil baron.
Matthew Booth/Sonia Bonneventia

At 6ft 6in and with a billiard ball for a head it's fair to say Matt Booth has done well to bag himself a former runner-up in Miss South Africa. Foreign journalists have often asked him why he is booed when playing for his country, but South African fans are in fact paying homage to the giant centre-half by bellowing "Boooth!". Booth, the only white player in South Africa's starting XI, once had an unsuccessful stint at Wimbledon and is fluent in Russian having played there earlier in his career. The couple met not long after apartheid was abolished, with the stunning Bonneventia spending the majority of her time in that period working as a model in New York. Booth went to an all-white school in the suburbs, while Bonneventia was brought up in the violent township Soweto. The pair are seen as positive role models for a new South Africa, with mixed-race relationships previously illegal under the apartheid.
